Depends: A standard dipstick used in a doctors office does not detect HCG and is used to diagnose urine infections or other kidney problems. It does not have a patch on it that would react with HCG. Therefore it would not detect pregnancy. However, doctors do use dipstick-like pregnancy tests similar to ones that you can buy in the drugstore. So it depends on what kind of dipstick they used.
