Are mobile apps of sleep monitoring reliable?

Dr. Tso Chen answered

Likely not: Depends on what kind of monitoring you need. If you need monitoring of the sleep cycles, then I don't think there's an app that can do that. Discuss with your doctor about a formal sleep study if you trouble sleeping.

It is not: a substitute for a formal sleep study especially with your symptoms which are consistent with obstructive sleep apnea. Consult your doctor for a referral.
