HIV: Although it is not technically required, you should disclose your full medical history as well as medications you take to any doctor you see. This G.I. doctor needs to know what medications you take that may have a bearing on something he sees in your exam or some treatment that he may recommend to you. Also he needs to take special precautions for your procedure. Telling him is the right choice

HIV status: It is not required for you to disclose your HIV status to the GI doctor, however it is advisable. Doctors are trained to be non-judgemental about medical conditions and only by disclosing everything about your medical status can you get excellent care.

You don't have to..: But if you are getting your colonoscopy for diagnostic purposes and not just screening, your Dr. knowing your HIV status can help provide clues as to what might be the problem. It's difficult to make an accurate diagnosis with only partial information.
