Not Necessarily: If you have no history of allergy to bee or insect stings, and the reaction remains local to the area of the sting itself, then you may continue with ice and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) as needed. Taking several more doses of scheduled Benadryl (diphenhydramine) as directed and an anti-inflammatory like Motrin may be helpful to ensure resolution. If symptoms worsen to include throat or breathing tightness then go to the ED.

Go to ER?: No, it doesn't really sound like an emergency. Although you do seem to have an allergic diathesis, it does not sound like this reaction is allergy-based, and certainly not anaphylactic. Seems to be a pretty typical reaction to a bite, sometimes called a large local reaction. Take a pain reliever, apply ice, watch for signs of infection and f/u with your regular doctor if it doesn't resolve.
