Difficult to treat: Radiation dermatitis is difficult to treat - is like a severe, deep sunburn. Wash gently with mild soap, don't rub or scratch the skin and wear loose fitting clothing. Cool compresses may help with the discomfort. If the skin is not broken, you may want to try calendula cream (available at most pharmacies) as this has been shown to prevent radiation dermatitis and help healing.
