Ophthalmology visit: Is it a stye on the outside of the eyelid or a chalazion on the inside of the eyelid? You can use warm wet compresses using a clean towel or wash clothe. Also, if it is on the outside of your eyelid, you can use an antibiotic ointment made safe for eyes like Erythromycin Ophthalmic ointment. Chalazions are more difficult to treat and they "point" like a whitehead pimple on the inside of the eyelid
