Kratom: Kratom has no pain relieving effects. In low amounts it stimulates and in higher amounts it causes sedation. It will note help with opioid withdrawal or mental disorders. It can causes dependence and habituation.

Kratom: Kratom is not regulated by the FDA and has not been scheduled by the DEA. It does have many active alkaloids, over 40. One alkaloid at least has activity on the mu-opioid receptor, which provides pain relief and helps with opiate withdrawal. It may also have alkaloids that help with depression.
