A member asked:

Are lubricating artificial tears without preservative safe to use?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Non preserved artificial tears are often recommended for the treatment of dry eyes in individuals who are sensitive to preservatives. There use can be very frequent (every 30' or so) due to low surface irritation side effects. Just as with any eye drop medication, avoid contamination of the dropper tip. Non preserved drops last generally 1 day, & are best refrigerated in between uses to protect.
