A member asked:

Many of the preservative free artificial tears still have phosphate in some form or another (e.g. disodium phosphate) is it safe for long term use?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Safe: The phosphate salt is for pH balance and not for anti-bacterial use. Your body is full of phosphate salts and they are an important part of your metabolism. Nothing here to worry about and it is safe to use long term.
