I am experiencing a perpetual state of dizzyness, difficulty with balance. originally diagnosed as "vertigo", the symptoms remain. meclizine is not effective. i am taking lisinopril (5 mg) for hbp.

I would recommend: a consult with an ENT specialist. They can evaluate,diagnose and help U manage this very disabling symptom of persistent vertigo. Good luck.

Check your BP: IF you are taking only low dose of Lisinopril for HBP; May be your BP is running low and making you feel Dizzy. i.e. Lightheaded. Check BP in Supine, Sitting and Standing position after 1 minute rest inbtween to stabilize the BP and note if there is drop of More than 10 numbers or Pulse increase . If this is Vertigo & Epely maneuver+ Meclizine is not helping, you should see Neurologist or ENT

Dizziness/Lisinopril: Lisinopril can definitely cause dizziness. Dizziness is one of the most common side effects of Lisinopril. Go see your doctor and ask him/her to switch your high blood pressure medication to something else.

Variety of Causes: Dizziness can be caused by a variety of things, from inner ear canal issues, to afferentation, or improper perception of incoming nerve signals. It may be appropriate to review medications, have inner ears evaluated, and see a Doctor of Chiropractic focusing on dizziness review epley's maneuver, and vestibular rehabilitation exercises to determine if beneficial. Overuse of stimulants can effect.

Suggestions: If not done before, please seek out otolaryngological consultation, and perhaps get full-blown otological studies. Might also make sure that you have normal thyroid, B-12, diabetes studies. A neurologist may be of benefit, as rarely, circulatory issues in vertebra-basilar system can be cause, and even less common, focal cerebellar stroke
