Check development: Although language development in children vary greatly based on their exposures etc, by 22 months, most children would be saying more than just mama and papa. Have him checked out by his pediatrician for a thorough developmental assessment and continue to provide a naurishing environment for his cognitive development.

Early Intervention: 22 mos old "says only mama & papa". At this age, your child should say at least 6 words, combine words, & half of his speech should be understandable. His growth, the presence of other areas of developmental delay and his hearing will need to be carefully assessed. Early intervention is crucial to a successful outcome. See your pediatrician now for correct diagnosis & treatment.
