Possible: However, is it clearcut that the disc bulge is the true and only pain generator, or are other issues present, such as sacra-iliac dysfnctn or pyriformis syndrome? Back pain: Most patients with disk herniation or bulging improve with conservative therapy, including physical therapy, massage, stretching. Other options like chiropractic approach or acupuncture may offer some relief. Combination of short term anti-inflammatory medication or muscle relaxer may be helpful. Your doctor may consider EMG/ NCS or neuroimaging if surgery is viewed as an option if refractory.
