A member asked:

Alex is taking the antibiotic clarithromycin for strep been on it 2 days and both nights he has been having crying episodes could this be the meds?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Strep throat therapy: Most antibiotics are very effective vs group A Strep -the germ that causes Strep throat. Clarithromycin should be 95% effective or greater. There's a slim chance of resistance (all germs are becoming tougher to kill these days). It may be that the symptoms of pharyngitis are bothering him -so check things like fever, taking fluids etc. Or maybe some side-effects from med-clarithro can cause nausea
