Normal saline drops: shouldn't sting, but if your eyes are inflamed and your eye doctor recommended them, you may benefit from preservative free formulations. If you are speaking of the concentrated saline drops for corneal disease, then you best contact your eye doctor, and have them recommend spacing them apart for administration. So, depends on which drops you have.

Usually: Salty drops can always sting. However, they may sting much less if the steroid eye drops have reduced inflammation on the surface of the eye. Dry eyes also experience more of a stringing or burning sensation from eye drops.
