Eyes are painful and gritty. use day & night eyedrops prescribed by optometrist, she said i have dry eye condition. drops dont help, been using them for over 6months , eyes sting in contact with water and especially in the evening ?

See doctor again: If you've not gotten better, you should be evaluated again, either by the original optometrist, or by another doctor or optometrist. Although you apparently had dry eye syndrome when examined before, it seems that that is not what is causing your symptoms. You may have something else as well, such as allergic conjunctivitis.
