How do you know if a lesion seen on an xray is an enchondroma or something else? in my foot.

Hard to tell: Enchondromas usually have a typical appearance to plain x-rays which suggests a benign process. However other problems can have a similar appearance. The decision to do additional tests depends on age, size and location of lesion, medical history, and bone involved. MRI and bone scan can help if the diagnosis is uncertain.
