Topical: There is a prescription NSAID topical gel called Voltaren (diclofenac) gel that you can try - it's very effective. Some pharmacies compound creams as well to include muscle relaxers, NSAIDs, lidocaine etc...Ask your doctor for one of these.

NSAID routes : Ibuprofen is one if several very good NSAIDs that work in similar ways to control inflammation and pain. Non oral forms of ketorolac by injection or nasal spray are available, and topical gels or patches of diclofenac are also available. I am not aware of injectable ibuprofen, but IV acetaminophen is very helpful in hospital settings, although it is not a NSAID

Arthritis medication: Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory, like Ibuprofen, can cause some thinning of the blood. Prior to any surgery they need to be stopped to decrease the bleeding potential. It doesn't matter how you would take the medication, it would still have this issue. With bariatric surgery(weight loss), the stomach could be irritated by the medication so another reason it is not allowed. Good luck
