Follow advice : If your doctors knows you well he/she likely put some thought when chosing this medication . I would follow the advice and see what happens. Make sure you follow up as instructed . I suggest you keep a log book with blood pressure readings . Check it at least twice a day . Bring this book to your next visit as it may help your Doctor determine if it is doing what he/she expected .
