A member asked:

I wanted to know is beer good for your gut and intestines? how much is good?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No evidence: despite millenia of belief that alcohol is "good for the digestion," there is no evidence of any beneficial effects of alcohol on the gut, whether beer, wine or distilled spirits. Large doses can clearly cause harm, including diarrhea and pancreatic inflammation that may impair the production of digestive enzymes. I am unaware of any studies that indicate any beneficial effect on the GI tract.
