A member asked:

What happens if a doctor notices a patient received the wrong insulin from the pharmacy, what does s/he do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: Hi. Some insulins are interchangeable (e.g., Humalog, Novolog, and Apidra), and the pharmacy may have switched from one to another in this group depending on your insurance. If your doctor feels strongly about it, she/he can petition the insurance company or write the prescription as "do not substitute". Of course, if pharmacy gave something like Lantus (insulin glargine) instead of Humalog, then they blew it!
