Prednisone can be taken anywhere from 3 days to even weeks depending on what it is being used for. A person should not stop taking prednisone abruptly and should consult their doctor on how to slowly come off of it if they have been taking it for a long time. But for a shorter time (like 3-5 days, commonly), they do not need to slowly come off of it.
