What happens if you were a doctor and had a patient that was resistant to the antibiotic you gave them, what could you do?

Different antibiotic: Almost always alternative antibiotics can be used if the infection is resistant to the initial treatment. People are not resistant to antibiotics -- only the bacteria causing the infection can be resistant. Alternatively, maybe the problem is due to a virus, or not from an infection. In these cases, no antibiotic will work. Contact your doctor and follow his or her advice about it.

Switch to another: antibiotic. CA culture and sensitivity would help to get the right antibiotic.
