Cipro (ciprofloxacin): Not indicated in people under age 18. ( True for all drugs in that class called quinolones.)Not the best choice for throat infections if they can take other antibiotics.

No!: Ciprofloxacin is not good against strep throat at all, especially in growing kids and teens as those smart docs have said above. Get a culture to be sure that is not the cause.! All other causes will usually get better on their own or are due to atypical bacteria that other drugs help more. Don't take any antibiotic without checking with a doc first.
