Get Evaluated: Any major serious illness can result in decreased immunity to infection and there is no direct link between stroke and decreased immunity. My suggestion is to see an immunologist and let that doctor evaluate your dad's immune system to see if there is a specific problem. I would also make sure he has had all of his appropriate vaccines brought up to date.
