A member asked:

Can doctor refer patients for mri?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: A physician's order is needed for an MRI. The physician performs a physical exam and takes a medical history to determine if an MRI is indicated, and a radiologist may be consulted by that physician to determine which MRI exam or other imaging exam ( CT scan, ultrasound) would be most appropriate for the presenting signs and symptoms.
