A member asked:

What do you suggest if my mom's blood sugar is 258. it usually runs under 150. she has had dinner and took her usual dose of glipizi?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Look at A1c: Hi. You can't judge control from a few BG numbers. You need to know A1c to assess overall control and risk of complications. Obviously 258 is a bad BG, but maybe it's an outlier. I'm not a fan of the glipizide family of drugs. All you can say for them is they're cheap. There much better drugs out there for type 2. She should talk with her doc about her A1c, and other options for control.
