HTN cataract: cataract sx is an avascular technique low risk sx however - important to have BP adequately controlled prior to any procedure.

HTN & cataract: High blood pressure used to be a significant concern during cataract surgery when we did large incision extractions. It is still something to take seriously & your PCP & anesthesiologist will usually not let you go into surgery if HTN is not controlled. For small incision surgery, though, unless it is a complicated case requiring enlarging wound, controlled HTN does not increase complications.
