Depends on primary: Depends what the primary site causing the metastasis is. When tumors of the lung spread to bone, even with standard chemotherapy, the prognosis is poor though improving with some of the immunologic agents like the PD-1's. With breast cancer to bone, most patients receiving hormone therapy or chemo if triple negative can survive for 10 yrs.
