A member asked:

What do you suggest if my iron stores are. hemoglobin: 86, previously 108 ferritin: 2.4 are these levels safe for an arthroscopy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Iron deficient: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your hemoglobin and ferritin are low enough to conclude that you have iron deficiency anemia. It would be better to correct your anemia before surgery. You doctor can advise about medications.
