Ear cleaning: One point to make is that in general people should not clean their ear canals with Q-tips or other objects. This alone can cause chronic canal irritation, or possibly bleeding. If you are compelled to clean your ears, use an OTC wax dissolving solution containing carbamide peroxide and follow directions. Do not use if there is a whole in your eardrum. You should see an ENT to check your ears.

No Q-tips: Cleaning ears with Q-tips isn't recommended. Small amounts of wax in the external ear canal are normal & serve to protect the skin and small hairs there. Q-tips can cause tiny cuts in the skin, which can bleed or allow germs to enter & cause an infection. If there is no pain, the scratch should heal on its own. Old saying: "The only thing you should put in your ear is your elbow or a piano."
