Hi. my consultant at hospital has stated that i have ' left basal linear scarring ( incidental finding on ct abdomen ). what does this mean ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Linear scarring: They are commenting on scars in the base of your lungs that form thin lines on the x-ray. Its an indicator of old damage over time. The scarring does diminish lung function and can lend itself to collapse of the alveoli (lung air sacs) in the outer/lower parts of the lungs.
