A member asked:

I have had random lip burning for 3 mths. hsv igg test was neg after 5 weeks from possible exposure. now have chapped lips with a white spot. herpes?

May be: HSV IGG is not 100%. Your symptoms are vague and may not be indicative of HSV. If you ever had a fluid filled blister on your lip and if it is recurring then you may have HSV. Culturing such a lesion is a better test than the IGG. Chapped lips or white spots are probably not HSV. However if you've had unprotected sex in the past few months and have symptoms indicative of HSV you may need retesting
