Let stomach empty...: Our stomachs empty at different rates, depending upon our physiology and the nature of the meal eaten. Fatty meals tend to slow down stomach emptying. Diabetics may also have slower emptying. The main issue with sleeping after a meal is suffering backing up of stomach contents if the stomach has not emptied. Rule of thumb -- give 2-3 hours for emptying, or elevate upper body upon retiring.
