A member asked:

Is it an allergic reaction from the test (tubersol) if you have some swelling?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Show your doctor: Swelling, redness, tenderness, heat, and even bruising are the signs of a positive reaction to the tuberculin protein present in tubersol. This is not an allergy but a hypersensitivity reaction. Both involve the immune system activity. In this case the positive reaction indicates previous exposure to tuberculosis either through infection or by vaccination with BCG (bacillus calmette-guerin).
