Antihistamine/steroi: The best is probably steroids--such as prednisone, but this needs a script from your doc. You can try otc zyrtec/benadryl etc...Motrin/aleve may help. Topical calamide lotion and hydrocrtisone may help a bit as well. If severe, consult doc. Good luck.

Is it an allergic : Reaction? About 15% of people who have been stung are allergic. When the fire ant stings it injects solenopsin - an alkaloid venom. This causes a welt which can become enlarged & this is usually followed by a sterile pustule. If you have an allergic rxn - concur w previous recommendation for steroids. If you are experiencing pain & itching from stings consider these things. Apply a 1 to 1 mix.
