Solid still possible: If nodule is of reduced echogenicity and looks homogeneous like cyst, usually benign lesion. Homogeneous solid lesion over 1 cm can also be suspicious and needs biopsy. Heterogeneous may mean some necrosis in solid nodule. Solid thyroid nodule is more likely than cystic nodule to be malignant. More than 90% of all solid nodules, however, are benign.
