BV treatment: Treatment with a single oral dose of 2 grams of metronidazole has lower efficacy and is no longer recommended for treatment of BV. The treatment of choice is 500mg of Metronidazole twice a day x 7days.

Bacterial vaginosis: Normally, the treatment for BV is metronidazole 500 mg every 12 hours for 7 days. 250 mg every 8 hours can also be given for 7 days, usually used in pregnant patients. The 2g dose once is generally reserved for sexual assault victims. I would complete the 7 day course. Also, the 2g dose can give you nausea and vomiting.
