May be viral: Some viral pharyngitis infections may look and feel just as miserable as a strept infection. If it is not strept or another bacteria, antibiotics are of no use. Have her drink lots of fluids, including maybe some warm tea with honey or hot soup to make her throat feel better, as well as Ibuprofen or throat sprays. If she isn't better in a few days, see the doctor again.
