A member asked:

Do low copper levels cause low ceruloplasmin levels, or is it the other way around?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Copper: Ceruloplasmin is the protein which carries about 70% of the copper in the body, Albumin and macroglobulins the rest. On can manifest copper deficiency with ceruloplasmin deficiency, but more commonly dietary deficiency or malabsorption is the source of low copper. Ceruloplasmin is also important in iron metabolism.
