Medical care STAT!: Your symptoms strongly suggest severe swelling of the tonsils, the area behind your tonsils or even deep in the soft tissue in the neck. You might have a tonsillar abscess which would need to be surgically drained. If you can't even swallow your saliva, there could be so much swelling it could interfere with your airway. Go to the E.R. STAT!

Seek Medical Care: Your symptoms are such that you should seek medical attention. You should have an exam, and a throat swab to screen for strep, a screening test performed for mono. When you are having difficulty swallowing, you may become dehydrated. You can be checked for dehydration. Medications can be given urgently to help with your immediate symptoms.
