See doc: One of the most important things to determine (and not miss) is whether or not you have strep throat. Get seen today or tomorrow. If you are getting worse, can't swallow at all, fever not better with ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen) or trouble breathing, etc., then to ER now. Chloraseptic or cepastat sprays can help till you get checked. And strep throat can hurt more & take longer to feel better in adults.

Pharyngitis: Sounds like pharyngitis, which can be bacterial but is usually caused by viruses like those that cause the common cold. Since the ears, nose & throat are connected, you can also have an ear infection. Most viruses don't have good treatments Xcpt time (7-14 day). If you were exposed to any known viruses you could get tested but antivirals have to be started in the 1st 2 days to be effective. GL
