STDs cause local: symptoms. Coughing generally is a protective mechanism for the respiratory tract. I think the most likely explanation is that u picked up a cough illness while in "very" close contact with someone else. Even if u didn't engage in sex, likely u would have caught it since u were non-immune. Best way to avoid coughs/colds? Eat well, plenty of fruits (vit C), EIGHT hours sleep, NO smoking, wash hands.

Not Likely: It would be very unlikely for a cough to be a symptom of any STD. I know you have an answer that would include pneumonia caused by Chlamydia, but that would be extremely rare.
