Benefit of doubt?: Sounds unlikely, but if liked the Dr in general, could give him/her one more try to see if had misinformation about nature of visit or was distracted (even though that tends to put most folks off!). If not, then yes, it is customary to take a thorough history (yours, family, meds, allergies, social, etc.) when meeting a new primary patient.
