A member asked:

Right after i give birth can a doctor draw blood from my baby umbilical cord and fathers blood to do a nipp test at the hospital on spot?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely: The newer NIPP testing is offered on blood from the mother and designated father as early as 9 weeks of gestation. You can arrange for the placental blood to be drawn and sent to a regular paternity testing centers. Most hospitals will have the information available for you to obtain test kits.It is not covered by most insurance. No hospital I am aware of tests this on site.
