Neck pain: Yes. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) units are safe for the neck and back. The TENS unit takes advantage of the fact that pain and sensation fibers travel together. TENS units stimulate sensation fibers that override pain fibers. Using the TENS unit 10-15 minutes in the morning and the evening is a good option for neck and back pain.
