Usually several : Things can be done. Most back or neck issues get better within several weeks. Simple applications of heat or ice, massage, avoiding prolonged positions, avoiding overhead work, avoiding repetitive push/pull or heavy lifting while using otc meds as needed can help as long as no contraindications to using then. If symptoms persist or worsen, then see your pcp or if you get any neurologic symptoms.

Other symptoms?: Good question. If a fever is associated with you complaint, see a doctor immediately, to rule out a serious infection. If the pain is seriouly affecting your activities of daily living, see a doctor to help determine the cause and provide you some relief of your symptoms. Otherwise, a warmshower and over the counter pain medication may help.
