A member asked:

I have prostatitis and taking an antibiotic course, if i eat chocolates and drink carbonated drinks.will they slow the process of killing bacteria?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, But...: Carbonated drinks often contain caffeine, as can chocolate. Caffeine won't slow your antibiotics' work, but can irritate and stimulate your infected prostate, leaving to increased pain and symptoms. So I'd still recommend avoiding them. If you are getting worse rather than better on antibiotics, you should get another appointment with your doctor for further evaluation.
