A member asked:

If you are given an injection which has oxygen in it, could the air bubble get to the heart and stop it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

NO: Air that is absorbed into the circulation (or directly injected into a vein) is absorbed by oxygen poor hemoglobin returning to the lungs & is harmless. What you're thinking of is air that is directly injected into an artery. That creates an "air embolism" that deprives the subserved tissue of circulation. If the blood is heading to the brain, a stroke can result.
