Yes: Amlodipine is an adequate treatment for hypertension if the BP is controlled, however if you have other medical conditions, a different antihypertensive might give you 'more bang for your Buck' For example if you are diabetic then an antihypertensive with kidney protective properties would be a better choice. If you had heart disease, a beta blocker might be a better choice
