Might help: You are below the maximum useable dose, which typically is 1800-2400 mg total daily, and taking it three times daily should make the effect smoother and more consistent. Since gabapentin does have sedative side effects, bumping dose upwards may well be useful for anxiety. However, talk to your doctor about all of these issues prior to changing dose yourself.

Possibly: Your total dose is relatively low. Have your doctor increase the second dose of the day and take that dose 30 minutes prior to going to sleep. The bedtime dose can be as high as 1,200 mg.
